How to prepare for a session you're hosting

Hosting a tarot session on Moonlight? Great! Our platform is designed for ease and flexibility, allowing you to jump right into a tarot room with minimal setup. However, if you like to add a personal touch or get things perfect before your session, here are some optional steps you can take. 🌞

1. Set up your tarot room.

Finding your room link: You can easily find your room link in your calendar event, your confirmation email, or on the 'Upcoming' page in Moonlight.
Enter early: Feel free to enter the tarot room early to prepare. This gives you time to familiarize yourself with the space and make any necessary adjustments. If you're new to Moonlight, here's our guide on navigating the tarot room.
Customize the vibes: Personalize the ambiance by changing the background imagery. Options range from a serene sunset sky to an enchanting crystal cave — choose whatever suits the mood!
Change the spread: Moonlight offers a variety of tarot spreads to choose from. Select the 'blank' spread for full creative freedom, allowing you to design your layout. You can use the type directly on the table for custom labeling.
Choose your deck. Take a moment to select the deck you'd like to use, or add new ones to your collection. Try playing with them and shuffling them if you'd like to play around first, or do any pre-session tarot.

2. Check your audio & video.

Browser permissions: Ensure your browser has permission to access your camera and microphone! If your permissions are off, try troubleshooting. Or quit and reopen your browser and press "Allow" when prompted.
Connecting external devices: If using an external mic or camera, select the right device from the dropdown menu in the tarot room, found near the mic/camera icons in the upper-left corner.
Your appearance: Moonlight's monochrome video is designed to feel sleek and and is intentionally small, reducing the need for an elaborate video setup. However, it's still sometimes nice to check your framing and lighting to ensure you're presented in the best possible way! Our video design aims to provide just enough visual presence to convey emotions effectively, while keeping the tarot artwork as the focal point of the session.

4. Prepare personal rituals.

Get comfortable: Engage in any personal rituals that help you prepare before a tarot session, like grabbing a glass of water, closing unnecessary browser tabs, relaxing on your couch, or lighting a candle. 🕯️

4. Understand the client.

Review client notes: Re-read any notes provided by the client to better understand the themes they want to explore in the session.
Visit your client's profile: Check the client's Moonlight profile for any additional information they may have optionally shared about themselves. (Note, some profiles might be blank!)
